Gates and Schwind hit the nail on the head by encouraging parents to disciple their children in faith through lifestyle living. They share in very practical ways on how we as parents can intentionally disciple and impact our children through our daily relationship with Jesus Christ. I pray that the mainline churches such as Episcopal and Anglican churches would be strategic in parents disciple[ing] their children. I strongly recommend using this book as a guide.
Parenting is one of the most challenging and rewarding endeavors in life. It is therefore incredulous that so many enter this journey with little or no training on how to model Christ’s life with their children and to build into their character for a lifetime of significance and impact.
That is why I am so excited about “Heritage Parenting” by Tom Schwind and Todd Gates because they understand discipleship as way of life as Jesus modeled it. All of us as followers of Christ are called to make disciples – and if we are parents, especially our families.
Their book gives an excellent overall view of discipleship as a process, as well as providing very practical how-to steps.Thank you Tom and Todd for your vital contribution to raising up a new generation of Godly young men and women!

There is real substance throughout its pages--rich Bible study, seasoned pastoral advice, and plain common sense. Prospective parents, parents of all ages, youth workers, grandparents and great grandparents will all enjoy and benefit from this timely work!

Focus! Focus is a great word to use when describing this book. It easily brings parents, Sunday school teachers, pastors, youth workers, and missionaries a clear view of the importance of discipling our children. The focus is on the parent’s responsibility to, from an early age, teach their children about faith in Jesus Christ. Too often parents leave this major responsibility to others rather than engaging in the leadership role themselves. This book will be a blessing to all who read and use it to raise up Godly children. I strongly suggest that this book become a text for Christian parenting classes in every church.

This book speaks to this [Christian parenting] crisis in a very timely, practical, and winsome way. With captivating simplicity, it describes how we can grow together and build up one another in the faith. Adding to the realism of the book, offering reasons for hope in the future, the process of discipleship is integrated into the foundational pillars upon which the Christian family rests.
What gives the book a ring of authenticity is the authors’ own experiences in disciple making. They have traveled this road themselves, so can help us avoid some of the pitfalls on the journey. I can learn from these teachers, and confident that their wisdom can help us all grow in grace and knowledge, I commend it to you. (From the book's foreword)
